Join us in the creation of New England NVC!
Specifically, we invite you to join us in a Google online discussion group and a series of teleconferences to discuss creating “New England NVC” as an umbrella entity for our local efforts throughout New England.
We are eager to contribute to meeting needs for connection, communication, community, sustainability, growth, learning, meaning, healing and many more!
We imagine these benefits:
- Greater clarity and exchange of information between local NVC groups and NVC leadership
- Greater clarity and exchange of information among local groups leading to better coordination of training events and increased likelihood of collaborative projects
- Regional capacity for fundraising leading to access to shared resources of staff and technology
- Greater visibility regionally through regional website with links or pages for local groups
- Greater possibility for shared database leading to greater retention and development of all of us who get exposed to NVC
- Greater possibility to develop policies and ways of working together that reduce conflict and competition among NVCers
- Greater voice in the development of NVC as an organization that intends to “walk its talk.”
How would New England NVC be run (governed)? We would like to follow the sociocratic model many NVC groups are using. This would mean New England NVC could be governed by a New England NVC “General Circle,” consisting of functional leaders and representatives of 5-7 regional groups (for example by State or by existing local NVC circles such as Vermont NVC and Pioneer Valley MA NVC). How to compose such the General Circle would be a key question for us to resolve.
The New England NVC General Circle would be the regional link in the organization of NVC – linking down towards local groups and up towards the English Western NVC (and Global Community Circle and CNVC) and link laterally to NVC circles in Eastern Canada and New York/Mid-Atlantic.
We don’t expect all this happen overnight but we are excited to join in building the capacity of NVC to offer its contributions to the world on much larger scale.
Are you interested? Sign up for the New England NVC Google group at [outdated website] and begin sharing your observations, feelings and needs and requests. More background information will be available on the New England NVC Google group website, and you can ask all the questions you want. With those who have signed up by March 25 we will schedule a teleconference to begin live discussion and decision making.
In the meantime if you want to see how the CNVC English Western Circle (EWC) is evolving you can join the EWC Google group at [outdated website] (the next EWC teleconference is on March 26. And if you want to see how the CNVC Global Community Circle (GCC) is evolving you join the GCC Google group at [outdated website].
